Common questions
Which format should I choose?
WebP is the safe default for the web today. AVIF goes smaller still but takes longer to encode. Keep JPG for maximum compatibility and PNG when you need transparency.
Is transparency preserved?
Converting to PNG, WebP, or AVIF keeps transparency. Converting to JPG does not — JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas get filled.
Are the files uploaded to a server?
