A raw screenshot rarely looks finished on its own. The editor above turns it into a framed, share-ready image in about a minute, and every step runs locally in your browser.
Drag an image onto the canvas, click to choose a file, or paste straight from the clipboard with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). You can also capture a browser tab, window, or whole screen without leaving the page.
Four templates set the canvas size, background, frame, and shadow in one click: "Social Launch", "Product Polish", "Tutorial Focus", and "Developer Code Spotlight". Every setting stays editable after you apply one.
Frame the image as a MacBook Pro or iPhone, add a light or dark browser or Windows title bar, use a glass border, or skip the frame. Backgrounds include quick picks, gradients, image backgrounds, a transparent option, and smart gradients generated from your screenshot's own colours.
Adjust shadow, corner radius, border, padding, and margin. Mark up the image with rectangles, filled boxes, circles, lines, arrows, a pencil, or emoji. Then download a PNG, JPG, or WebP at 1x, 2x, or 4x, or copy the result to the clipboard.
Choose the canvas before you style anything, so you judge margins and text size at the shape people will actually see. The presets match the places screenshots are shared most often: Social at 1200 x 675 for X, LinkedIn, and blog headers; Tutorial at 1400 x 900 for documentation and course covers; Portrait at 1080 x 1350 for Instagram and LinkedIn feeds; Story at 1080 x 1920 for vertical stories; and Product Hunt at 1270 x 760 for launch galleries.
When the screenshot and canvas have different proportions, the fit option decides what happens: Contain shows the whole screenshot, Cover fills the canvas and trims the edges, and Fill stretches the image to fit.
Margin (0 to 220 px) is the space between the screenshot and the edge of the canvas; padding (0 to 64 px) is a coloured band drawn around the screenshot itself, with its own colour picker. For most product shots, a margin between 64 and 96 px with a Soft or Lifted shadow and Soft or Rounded corners reads cleanly at any size.
Save the Dramatic shadow and Showcase corners for hero images and launch posts, where the screenshot should float above the page. On light backgrounds the Contrast border keeps pale interfaces from blending into the canvas; on dark or busy gradients, Clean or Frosted borders look better.
PNG is the safest choice for interface screenshots because it keeps small text and thin lines sharp, and it is the format to use when you need a transparent background. JPG produces smaller files for photo-heavy images but cannot store transparency. WebP is usually the smallest of the three and works well on web pages.
Export at 2x when the image will be viewed on high-density displays or zoomed in documentation, and at 4x when it will be printed or cropped later. 1x is enough for chat messages and email. None of the formats or scales add a watermark, and there is no size limit on the export.
Wrap a raw screenshot in a MacBook or iPhone frame, drop it on a gradient or solid background, add padding and a shadow, then export a share-ready image. Everything runs in your browser.
Put a screenshot inside a device mockup so product shots read as real screens instead of loose rectangles.
Pick a gradient or solid colour, adjust padding and corner radius, and add a shadow so the screenshot separates from the page behind it.
Export at full resolution with nothing stamped on the image, and no account required. Processing stays in your browser.
No. The export is the image you see, at full resolution, with no watermark and no account required.
MacBook and iPhone style frames, plus a plain framed option when you only need padding, a background, and a shadow.
No. Framing, backgrounds, and export all run locally in your browser, so client and pre-release screenshots stay on your device.
Yes. Use the filled rectangle tool to cover email addresses, API keys, names, or order numbers. The box is baked into the exported image, and because editing happens in your browser, the unredacted original never leaves your device.
Use the Social preset (1200 x 675, a 16:9 shape) for X, LinkedIn link posts, and blog headers. Use Portrait (1080 x 1350) for Instagram and LinkedIn feed posts, and Story (1080 x 1920) for vertical stories.
Yes. Pick the transparent background, turn on transparency in the export panel, and download as PNG or WebP. JPG does not support transparency, so a JPG export always gets a solid background.
Every ShotEdit tool processes your images on your own device, so your files are never uploaded. The badge above each upload area confirms that the tool runs in your browser.
