Privacy Policy

ShotEdit is designed so every image tool processes files locally in your browser. This includes screenshot editing and beautifying, background removal, image compression, image conversion, PDF to JPG rendering, rounded corners, watermarking, GIF and video compression, and browser-side image enhancement. ShotEdit has no user accounts, no paid plans, and no server-side AI processing.

ShotEdit is operated by Novrik Digital LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data is processed when you visit shotedit.net, which cookies and similar technologies are used, and the choices you have.

Information We Process

• Files you choose for any tool stay in your browser and are never uploaded to ShotEdit servers.
• Basic technical data such as request metadata, IP address, browser information, device information, pages visited, and referrer may be processed by hosting, security, analytics, advertising, and performance providers.
• If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in the message.

How Tools Handle Your Files

Every tool on ShotEdit runs inside your browser. The file you pick is read by JavaScript on your device, processed there, and the result is offered back to you as a download or a clipboard copy. Nothing is transmitted to ShotEdit or to any third party, and closing the tab discards everything. Each tool shows a badge above its upload area confirming that it runs in your browser.

Until September 2026 ShotEdit also offered server-side AI tools (AI background removal and AI photo restoration) and user accounts. Those features have been removed; the temporary files they used were deleted when each job finished and no copies are retained.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. ShotEdit itself does not set cookies to identify you, but the providers below may set cookies or read similar identifiers when you visit:

• Security cookies (Cloudflare). Cloudflare may set cookies such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance to tell humans apart from automated traffic and to protect the site from abuse.
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics). When analytics is enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga to measure aggregate usage, for example which tools are opened and which pages are visited.
• Advertising cookies (Google and its partners). Where ads are shown, Google and other ad vendors may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or device identifiers to serve, measure, and personalize ads, as described in the next section.

You can block or delete cookies at any time from your browser settings. Blocking security cookies may cause Cloudflare to show an extra verification step; blocking analytics or advertising cookies does not affect how the tools work.

Advertising

ShotEdit is free to use and may display advertising served by Google AdSense to cover its running costs. In connection with those ads:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to ShotEdit and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in the EU and UK, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
• If you opt out, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your browsing history.

You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are asked for consent through a consent message before personalized ads or advertising cookies are used, and can change that choice at any time.

We never pass your files or any personally identifiable information, such as names or email addresses, to advertising partners.

Service Providers

ShotEdit relies on Cloudflare for hosting, security, caching, and operational logs, on Google Analytics for aggregate product analytics when analytics is enabled, and on Google AdSense for advertising where ads are shown. These providers process data under their own privacy policies: Cloudflare and Google.

Use of Data

We use processed data to provide the tools you request, keep the service reliable, understand aggregate usage, prevent abuse, show and measure advertising, and improve ShotEdit.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your files or any data about you. Data is shared with the service providers listed above only as needed for hosting, security, analytics, and advertising, or when required by law.

Data Retention

Your files are processed in your browser and are never retained by ShotEdit servers. Analytics, advertising, and security records may be retained by the relevant providers according to their own retention policies and operational, legal, and security needs. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer them.

Your Choices and Rights

ShotEdit does not hold accounts or personal profiles. You can:

• block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings;
• opt out of personalized ads using the links in the Advertising section above;
• install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on;
• depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA), request access to or deletion of personal data we hold about you by emailing us. Because ShotEdit does not keep accounts, in most cases the only personal data we hold is correspondence you sent us.

Children's Privacy

ShotEdit is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time, and the latest version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
